Each year everyone has to fight with this most irritating little creatures. I’m always getting ready to squish them when I see some ants trailing inside my house. When I see an ant nest then take some proper action to destroy their colonies completely.
Ants mostly get inside in summer seasons, and for the past three years, I have successfully get rid of ants with most common home remedies. Here I have mentioned some home remedies that can be used to destroy ant colonies in both indoors and outdoors.

Ants are mostly found by particular region wise, so you have to deal with only certain types of ants. There are many different species of ants, but the most common house invading ants include pavement, acrobat, pharaoh, carpenter, and odorous house ants.

Lemon

Lemon is the easiest natural ant repellent. Try lemons to keep an ant away from your kitchen and other areas in your house. Its smell and acidic property clear ants scent trails and prevent them to get inside. First, identify the places and rub some lemon juice from where they’re getting inside. There is also another option you can put some essential oil of lemon on cotton ball and place them in those areas from where ants are getting inside the house. Slice the lemon peel into small pieces and place them around your outdoor entries.
Apply these home remedies every single day until ants are completely left your house.

Cinnamon

Cinnamon is also an effective natural home remedy to get rid of ants inside the house. Like lemon, its smell also discourages ants from getting inside your home. The cinnamon essential oil works as both an effective ant repellent and an insect repellent. Add half teaspoon of cinnamon essential oil in a cup of water and immerse a cotton ball in the cinnamon oil solution. Rub those places from where the ants are getting inside and also rub the areas from where they may enter your home. Apply once daily until ants are completely gone. Do not use it all over the places, use it only on an ant invasion.

Borax

Borax is an ant killer and it helps to get rid of ants both indoors and outdoors. Mix equal amounts of borax and powdered sugar, and add some water to make to like a paste. Put the paste in the places where you have seen ant nests. Ants attracted to these borax and powdered sugar mix paste, and they try to ingest it and it will eventually kill them.
In place sugar you can also add cornmeal, it also works. Just keep it in mind that borax is poisonous so store it properly and keep it away from pets and small children.

Peppermint

Peppermint also a natural pest repellent and it can keep ants away from your house. Its strong smell keeps ants away from getting inside and also interrupt ants smelling abilities so they’re unable to find the food sources.
Make a peppermint spray- – Add some drops of peppermint essential oil in a cup of water. Sprays the solution in those places where you find ants. Use the sprays twice daily until the ants completely leave your homes. You can also scatter some dry peppermint in house entries to repel them. You can grow your own pepper plant in the garden.

Diatomaceous Earth

Diatomaceous Earth also works as an effective ant repellent. Sprinkle the DE powder over the areas where you have seen ant nests. Repeat the process daily until ant is completely gone.
